Lucifer season 5 writers room opens (photo); what’s next?

 

We’d heard that today would mark the kick-off of the Lucifer season 5 writers room; now, we have confirmation of that very thing.

In a new post on Twitter, writer/producer Chris Rafferty noted that the writers are now back at work in crafting what look to be the final ten episodes of the series … and the thought of this continues to be bittersweet. It’s one of those situations where we’re thrilled to make it here, but sad that the journey couldn’t go at least a little bit longer. One more season would’ve been wonderful.

Yet, with the writers knowing in advance that season 5 is going to be the final one, that does mean that they have ample opportunity to write the ending that so many people want … though they’re going to have to move quickly. Provided that the end of the series is meant to be a happy one (fingers crossed), the first order of business is going to be finding a way to get Lucifer back out of hell and then back around some of the other characters. The second order of business, meanwhile, is going to be finding a way to then allow them to be happy. This stuff comes in waves sometimes! We imagine that there are going to be some joyous moments no matter how the show ends, but they won’t come your way immediately.

By the time that filming begins (likely a little bit later this summer), there’s a sentiment that most of the main arc of the season will be wrapped up, even if we don’t know all of the finer details just yet. Since we’ve already seen what this show looks like in its new home on Netflix, there won’t be as many questions about content as there was coming into season 4 from season 3.

Expect Lucifer season 5 in its finished form to come your way in 2020.
