Better Call Saul season 5: Why a Walt, Jesse cameo shouldn’t happen
On the heels of the cryptic messages Cranston and Paul shared on Twitter earlier this week, now felt like the right time to re-address this conversation — and also focus on why we really shouldn’t be seeing either one of them on the spin-off series. If there is a collaboration within the works between the two men, the consensus theories are that it is either Better Call Saul or some sort of Breaking Bad movie tease, where Cranston could appear either in flashbacks or dream sequences.
1. There’s no real reason for it – Given that Walt and Jesse don’t meet Saul Goodman until Breaking Bad, why suddenly alter the timeline here? Sure, you could make a scene into a flash-forward, but then you have to wonder this — if there was a scene with Walt and Jesse that was important after they first met Saul, why didn’t we see it on Breaking Bad?
2. It will never live up to the hype – It will create a small little moment and get some press, but is it going to justify its existence? Probably not. This was designed to be a prequel about Saul; it’s not about Walt, Jesse, Hank, or any other main Breaking Bad characters.
3. It may take away from the rest of the story – If this cameo happens, you have to imagine that on the other side of it, this is all people are going to be talking about. It’s not going to be the story of Saul anymore; it’s all about a small cameo. That’s it. Just a cameo.
Do you still want a Walt – Jesse cameo to happen on Better Call Saul season 5?
