Agents of SHIELD season 6 finale spoilers: Expect a big twist
Here is the tease that should get your mind buzzing, courtesy of Chloe Bennet (Daisy) and TVLine:
“My favorite part about the finale is the very, very end because it will be a big shift that sets us up for next season.”
What does this mean? Maybe it’s something crazy like Coulson being revived (again). Or, maybe it introduces a new villain, or tries to work to better set Agents of SHIELD up within the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline. That’s been one of the more frustrating things about this season so far. It’s been great to see Sarge in action and to get that exceptional episode for Fitz and Simmons last week. If this was not a show featuring a character like Coulson (who has been a part of several of the big-budget movies), maybe it would be an easier thing to forget about. Yet, it’s because of his inclusion in those that we see him here and wonder constantly why the show is doing what it is with the timeline.
Will the Agents of SHIELD season 6 finale set up the final season?
It’s hard to rule that out. ABC hasn’t confirmed one way or another if season 7 will be the final one, but there are reasons for concern. Many shows out there struggle to make it past a season 7 for contractual reasons, whereas others just feel like there’s not that much creative left in the tank. We do think that there are almost unlimited stories you could tell from within the world of SHIELD, but eventually, all things must end … and we’d be ridiculous to sit here and proclaim that the ratings for Agents of SHIELD have been anything close to spectacular for a while. It’s been fighting for dear life.
