Good Witch season 5 episode 5 preview: The truth about ‘The Tea’

Typically when you hear the words “The Tea” in 2019, you’re almost always going to think about secrets being spilled. It’s become a major term within the reality TV or YouTube community, but we’re not sure that Good Witch is using it that way in reference to season 5 episode 5. Maybe this is all about people who just want a hot cup of tea and a good book to read. Anyhow, this episode is going to mark a great opportunity to explore some stories that are a little bit separate from what you’ve seen this season — think in terms of Middleton politics and then also some rivalries between some different characters. There are some fears, some hopes, and hopefully some surprises by the end of it. We also are going to have the story of Paige and Chelsea, two women who are arriving to Grey House and will eventually work out some issues when it comes to their friendship.

Martha is reinstated as mayor of Middleton and pits Grace and Luke against each other; Grey House hosts two best friends, Paige and Chelsea — both of whom are worried that Chelsea’s upcoming wedding will cause them to drift apart.

One of the goals for a show like Good Witch is to try and inject as much relatability into its scenes as it can, and one of the primary methods in which it uses to do that is by bringing on board these characters who have obvious touchstones to viewers at home. There’s a recognition that we’ve all been there, in some form or another. Maybe it’s a wedding, or maybe it’s some other occasion. No matter what it is, there are those moments where you wonder if you’re drifting from someone you care about. Good friendships do sometimes drift, but others persevere. We feel like the goal here is probably to showcase more the latter than the former. Good Witch is meant to be an optimistic show and we have a hard time seeing them wanting to tell a story with a particularly-sad outcome on the other side of it.
