Claws season 3 episode 4 preview: Will Desna save Roller?

Coming into next week’s Claws season 3 episode 4, we know what the show’s central crisis is going to be. More than that, we also understand that it’s one of the most difficult situations that we’ve seen Desna in through the past few seasons of this show.

When Mac and Melba told Desna tonight that they may have underestimated her, so much of it felt like lip service. Yet, Desna seemed to take what they were saying at face value, suggesting that she actually was the one doing the underestimating — a surprising move really, given that she’d already gotten a sense of some of what these people are capable of already. She knows that they are dangerous and yet, she let her guard down just enough. Now, Roller is kidnapped and through episode 4, it certainly sounds like she is going to have some difficult decisions to make in regards to how to help him … if helping him is possible. After Desna (Niecy Nash) discovers Mac (Michael Horse) and Melba (Rebecca Creskoff) have done something horrible to a loved one she realizes how far she is willing to go to get him back.

While Roller’s name isn’t mentioned verbatim in the synopsis, it feels like he’s the person who is talked about judging from the end of the episode. The only other possibility here is that something happens to Dean, and it very well still could judging from how Mac seems to be roping him in with promises of friendship. This could all be a ploy to eventually hurt him and we could totally see Desna being put in a situation where she has to choose between her love interest and her brother. We think that she’d choose Dean over Roller, but that may not be a situation that she has to deal with.

Ultimately, we consider this to be a watershed episode of the show for many reasons — with the primary one being that it will cause Desna to really take stock in precisely what matters to her the most. It’s going to elevate the stakes of this story and help her realize just how much danger she is really in at the moment.

As for some of the other characters, we’re mostly curious to see where Jenn’s story goes. It’s probably the most human out of any that is going on at the moment within Claws, so we hope that it doesn’t get discarded or forgotten about amidst some of the other chaos that is going on with Mac, Melba, or some of the other threats who could eventually rise to prominence within this world.
