Grey’s Anatomy season 16: Kim Raver on Teddy, Owen’s future

As we prepare for Grey’s Anatomy season 16 in the fall, there are still question marks aplenty regarding what’s next for several characters. Take, for example, whatever the future could hold for Teddy. At the end of season 15, she and Owen were getting set to welcome their baby into the world! That’s an exciting occasion, but then you remember about the thousand different variables and awkward moments that go along with it. You recall the fact that this relationship is far from perfect and there’s no guarantee that anything at all is going to work out.

Ultimately, there’s another question worth asking here, as well — is Teddy, for sure, even going to want to be with Owen? While it feels to us that she’s leaning that way and so many of the show’s premonitions have suggested so, there’s still someone else in the picture and we don’t imagine that Tom Koracick is going to just accept defeat so easily. He’s going to have his voice heard, one way or another, and do his best to fight for the person he believes in. For a little more on that, just take a look at what Kim Raver herself had to say in a new People Now interview:

“I think Owen has done a lot of work on himself, [and] I think they’re in a really great place for this to be an amazing relationship. Of course, they did have poor Tom there, [putting together] the baby crib and eating a sandwich … I don’t know [which way she’s going to lean].”

What is the better overall move for Teddy?

A lot of it may come down to where she feels the most challenged, since clearly, this is a woman who loves to feel challenged. In one way, it’s easy to lean towards Owen as the ideal contender for her heart just because of the sole fact that he’s challenged her so much already. Tom, meanwhile, is such a more stable option — he’s clearly into her and, since the start of their relationship, there’s been no real waffling. If there is a silver lining here for us, it’s knowing that Greg Germann is a series regular entering season 16. What that means is that even if Teddy and Tom are no more, the character will still be around — admittedly, that’s the thing that made us the most nervous about the future.
