The Amazing Race season 31 finale promo: What challenges lie ahead?
For starters, it seems like this will be one of the more action-packed episodes we’ve seen, given that we’re going to see teams repel down a building, do some sort of task in a bank vault, and also spend some more time rowing around in the water. There are two more countries being featured, with the first being the United Kingdom and the second being, of course, the United States — as is often the tradition. (You probably saw some elements of the UK in the promo for the finale on Wednesday night — it’s not so much featured in the new video below via CBS.)

Strategy-wise, it seems like some players have some interesting ideas rolling around in their heads for how they want to tackle at least the next leg. For some reason, Nicole & Victor are the targets! There are no U-Turns left, but it seems like the three Amazing Race teams left (Colin & Christie, Leo & Jamal, and Tyler & Korey) are going to prioritize working together as a means to get them all to the finale. We feel like this is a show pride thing more than anything else, as the three probably just feel like it’d be cool if they had all Amazing Race alumni in the finale.
Is there something else going on here? Maybe you can argue that because Nicole has already won Big Brother, there’s a sentiment that she doesn’t need to win anything else … but we don’t think anyone needs to play the “who has more money?” game with this show. We think it’s more about Amazing Race loyalty than anything else. (One other theory — maybe they’ve seen how well Nicole & Victor have been studying all season and they’re worried about them dominating an end-of-the-season memory challenge.)
By all means, it’s still possible for Nicole & Victor to make it to the end of this show and win — they’re just going to need to be incredibly committed to finishing each task quickly and minimizing mistakes. They’ve had some good legs before, but they’ll probably need to run their best one ever now to have a chance at sticking around.
Random bit of fun
See the official cast photo above? It’s kind of funny that the final four teams are all in a row next to each other — Phil’s separating Tyler & Korey from the others, but they are all still there.
