‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ reunion review: All about Teresa and Joe

At the end of the day, it really does not matter here if you are talking about Teresa Giudice and her brother Joe Gorga or Teresa and her husband Joe Giudice; at the end of the day, “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” has basically become a platform for these three people and their craziness to play out on one of the biggest stages in all of cable television.

The latest example of that came through in fine (or disturbing) fashion during the third and thankfully final part of the show’s reunion on Sunday night. There was screaming, fighting, drama, more screaming, and no real solution in sight for anyone. As a matter of fact, even most of the themes felt worn-down and familiar. We had more and more accusations that various people worked as strippers, starting with Jacqueline Laurita and ending with Melissa Gorga. We also had Teresa and her husband dodging talk of their legal questions, only to later be blasted by some of the other ladies for talking about them in a tabloid.

Really, the question moving forward here is pretty simple: is there anything more that we can get out of this cast? Even though we may love some of what these women bring to the show, we do not love the sense of self-awareness that has come with all of them realizing that fighting gets them airtime. It’s led to the show becoming a cacophony, and it’s painful to the eardrums to watch. Plus, watching a breakdown is only okay if there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and there’s no real light here. We have a feeling that these people could be on the show for years to come, and we would still be talking about the same petty fights and families “falling apart.” You need to have a fresh cast to realize the reality TV experience and do something with it; these ladies are now just spinning their wheels, and the nature of fame has destroyed much of what made this fun to begin with.

Do you think this reunion show was too much of “more of the same,” and are you for some changes before the next season?
