Yellowstone season 2 cast tease upcoming stories, themes (video)

Yellowstone episode 8

Ready for Yellowstone season 2 to arrive on the Paramount Network tomorrow night? Consider this article, and video, a primer for some of what is coming up next.

In the video that CarterMatt has for you below, you can see Kelly Reilly, Kevin Costner, Wes Bentley, and some of the other cast members talk about what is going to be an ‘interior” season for the cast. What does that mean? Well, it’s tied mostly to the idea of being a character-specific story. It’s not as much about these external threats coming to destroy John Dutton and some of the other important important faces in the community. Instead, it could be more about characters eating themselves from within.

In the words of Reilly, “there’s a war coming.” Beth is going to do whatever she can in order to fight, and we’ll see just what that looks like for her as she makes bigger and bolder decisions.

So are there some new characters who are going to be entering the mix? Absolutely, and that includes some new threats who are going to try to take down John Dutton’s world. You get a small sense of some of this in the video, especially when it comes to Arrow/Project Blue Book actor Neal McDonough and his character of Malcolm Beck. Given what we’ve seen from Neal as Damien Darhk, we know just how good he can be at playing conniving, menacing characters. His true intentions are to be seen within the Yellowstone world, but for now he remains a key cog and a person to watch closely as we continue to see this second season develop.

One of the true joys that should be noticeable throughout season 2 is the gift of progression. For executive producer Taylor Sheridan, he had an opportunity to see what stories worked in season 1 and what viewers really responded to. This allows him the opportunity moving forward now into season 2 to lean into some of those things and really emphasize some of what made viewers so excited. Our feeling? It’s more about the people than even the places or the plots. The more that we get to see some of that depth brought further into this world, the stronger the overall project will be.

Luckily, the wait to dive back into this world and the Dutton family empire is just about at an end. We’ll be back tomorrow with a full review of everything that transpires, and also a look ahead towards the remainder of this season. If you love Yellowstone as much as we do then just know that we will be bringing you reviews, previews and scoop all summer long.
