NCIS: Los Angeles season 11 spotlight: The future for Marty Deeks

As we get closer to the start of NCIS: Los Angeles season 11 filming a little bit later this summer, we’re going to be doing our best to spotlight each one of the key players! That includes today, as we’re putting the onus on none other than Marty Deeks — a character we know to absolutely be a fan favorite of many people out there.

Why is Deeks so popular? We think a lot of it has to do with his status as a guy who can both save the day and find a way to have a laugh across a few assorted moments. He’s got a great sense of humor, but also a passionate spirit and an ability to really focus in and get the job done. His relationship with Kensi is also one for the books, and we’re so thrilled that the two are (finally) married. Does that mean their story is over? Far from it, and there are a lot of things to discuss in regards to the two of them within this particular piece.

What’s the plan for the future? – Personally, we think that a lot of the story right now revolves around what Deeks and Kensi have talked about the past two seasons — are they going to continue to want to be a part of this world forever? While being in law enforcement does come with its fair share of benefits, there are also some clear drawbacks. think in terms of the hours, or the constant stress that it can put upon you. It’s going to make it hard for the two to start a family if they want that — before they can even start thinking about kids, they probably need more of a plan about their job, or how they would want to start a family.

For Deeks in particular, we think that he’s probably going to be the first one to leave this particular part of the job being out in the field — we actually wonder if he could eventually try to find another place at the office while someone else ends up doing more field work.

Bring back more personal connections – Continue to give us more of the people who are in Deeks’ life beyond just his colleagues. Maybe it’s his mother, or maybe it’s an old childhood friend that he runs into. The more that you can enrich his life with a lot of the people who are involved in it, the easier it’s going to be to feel satisfied with this story.

Could we end up meeting some more Deeks rivals? – Every character needs and adversary, and we’ve seen Deeks have some over the years. Yet, instead of bringing back some old foes for the upcoming season, we’d almost rather have him face off against someone new — maybe they target him because of his direct ties to the LAPD, or because of his role in a current case that enrages him.

Undercover work – We always love it when members of this team go undercover and for Deeks, it’s even more entertaining given that some of his cases do have a comedic spin. We don’t want to see the show ever lose that if it’s at all possible.
