The Son season 2 episode 9 preview: ‘The Bear’ and changes galore

The Son

We’re getting near the end of the season and because of that, The Son season 2 episode 9 will be delivering the goods — it will be shocking, dramatic, entertaining, and hopefully anything and everything in between. It’s already got a high bar due to some of what we saw transpire tonight, including the terrible death of Prairie Flower in the past — basically, the sort of event that could be very transformative in the life of any young person.

Yet, the sad thing for Young Eli is that in the coming weeks, we’re not going to see the Commanche camp in anywhere near a better place. Instead, the characters are still going to find themselves struggling — but maybe in a different way. Want to know more? Below, CarterMatt has the official The Son season 2 episode 9 synopsis with more news when it comes to what lies ahead:

In 1852, Young Eli’s tribe encounters soldiers that make an unexpected offer; in 1916, Pete makes a decision that could tear the family apart.

Basically, what we could see during this episode is some different degrees of suffering and frustration in the past, while in the present Pete is going to continue to make questionable decisions. He’s already shown a real capacity for doing stuff without really thinking about his family or anyone else — he’s selfish, and while we understand that he’s gone through some stuff, that doesn’t change who he is or some of the things that he does.

We’re getting really close to the end of The Son season 2 just that and with that, also the end of the series. That means that there’s really not going to be a whole lot of time in order for the writers to tie some of these stories altogether. We’re hoping that there’s a good plan for making sure that this show properly lands — we think that most of the point here is about legacy, the path you take, and some of the decisions you make (hey, that rhymes!) every single step of the way. There are characters who will make a number of tough decisions, but you have to think that a lot of them are going to be deeply informed by some of what they’ve gone through in the past.

If the past didn’t matter, then why give us so many flashbacks? That’s probably one of the most honest questions that we’ve got…
