A Million Little Things season 2: First table read for James Roday, cast!
In a new post on the show’s official Twitter account (see the bottom of this article), you can see much of the show’s cast back together at what is their first official table read for the new season. This is an opportunity to see all of them prepare for what lies ahead — and what is sure to be a season chock full of emotional reveals. Isn’t that some of what this series does best?
A Million Little Things is one of the first returning fall shows to actually get ready for production, and they’re going in general a month or so before the bulk of network TV series get back to work. (Another ABC show in The Good Doctor will also be started up soon.) So why are they kicking things off precisely when they are? A lot of it may have to do with the way in which ABC plans on airing some of these season 2 episodes. If you look at the fall schedule, A Million Little Things (complete with James Roday’s glorious beard) is going to be airing Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern, in between Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder. Eventually, you have to assume that Station 19 is going to take over its timeslot once its second season is over. It makes sense for them to air as many episodes as possible of A Million Little Things in the fall/winter in order for that to happen, and that may mean the show getting a head start on filming so that it’s ready in time.
Or, another possibility here is simply that the production would rather film more in the summer than the winter in Vancouver — which makes total sense. Nobody wants to deal with the cold for all that long! (Granted, there are shows that are filming in Toronto, New York, and Chicago, which are all often so much colder than Vancouver is this time of year.)
What’s the biggest takeaway from this photo?
If you see an actor in this image, it’s fair to assume that they will have an important role to play in season 2. With that being said, don’t freak out over people who aren’t in the photo. There are a lot of performers who may be popping up later, or just weren’t able to make the first table read for whatever reason. We’ve learned through the story of A Million Little Things already that jumping to conclusions is not always the most prudent thing in the world to do.
