Outlander has itself a new, and hilarious, celebrity fan

Outlander season 4

Usually, celebrities being a fan of a given show isn’t exactly breaking news. It’s a little bit different when said fan is Leslie Jones and the show is Outlander.

If you are not familiar with the social-media comedy works of the Saturday Night Live cast member, then know this — watching anything alongside Leslie is a viewing experience like no other. Whether it be episodes of Timeless, the Olympics, and anything/everything in between, she provides commentary, amazing soundbites, and she just makes being a fan of something a good 120% more fun.

With all of this said, let’s just say that we let out a shout or two of delight when we saw this post across Twitter this weekend.

So what does this mean? Too early to tell, given that Leslie isn’t keeping us fully up to date on how far she is in her viewing experience! Maybe she’s checking out the first two seasons on Netflix, further validating that it was such a smart move for Sony Pictures TV to put the show on there. Leslie gives publicity in a way few others do! (We shudder to use the word “influencer” sometimes, given how overly used it is already, but Jones actually fits the bill — we know there are people who’ve gotten into things before just because she has.)

She’s already gotten one message of excitement from an Outlander cast member — just take a look at what Lauren Lyle (Marsali) wrote her this morning.

Here’s the perfect endgame of all this…

Leslie fully joins the Outlander community, starts watching the show live, and has amazing conversations with some of the cast. There’s plenty of time for her to be prepared for the fifth season, given that it’s probably not going to premiere until 2020. Who doesn’t want Leslie’s take on Jamie, Claire, Roger, and Brianna leading up to the Revolutionary War?

On a different note, you know we’ve been advocating for Sam Heughan and/or Caitriona Balfe to host SNL for some time — maybe Leslie can put in a good word? She wouldn’t be the only cast member with a connection to the show, as Sam worked with Kate McKinnon on The Spy Who Dumped Me, which came out in theaters last summer. That was one of his first major studio releases within the United States.
