The Affair season 5 spoilers: The Blacklist alum to guest star

Following her time on The Blacklistit didn’t take all that long for Mozhan Marno to find herself another prominent role. To be specific, she’s set to be on The Affair!

This fantastic news was confirmed in a post on Twitter by show executive producer Sarah Treem, though it is not 100% confirmed as of yet who Marno will play or how many episodes she will be a part of. Given that Mozhan left during the sixth season of The Blacklist, there must have been time to at least fit in an episode or two of the Showtime drama in there. The Affair needs as many fantastic additions as it can get, given that we are looking towards a landscape that’s going to feel different — very different, in fact. Remember that Ruth Wilson isn’t returning and Joshua Jackson’s status is unclear. He’s not a regular, but everything else is in the TV void.

What’s immediately noticeable about Treem’s photo is that Marno is clearly not playing Samar 2.0. This is a character who, in look and style, is very different from her previous character, an at-times ruthless agent who worked alongside the FBI in order to round up Blacklisters at the behest of Raymond Reddington. Technically, the character is still out there, but she recognized at the time of her exit that there was no staying near Aram or the rest of the Task Force. She will be hunted so long as she sticks around there, and interprets this as the best-case scenario.

Yet, here is where we note that we still miss Samar and would do a fist-pump or two if it turns out that she returns during season 7.

If you missed it…

The final season of The Affair premieres this August (read more here), and it will feature two different eras. You’re going to have the present, where Helen and Noah are (presumably) going to piece together their lives after some of the pain and the challenges that they’ve gone through. Then, you’ve also got the future, where you’re going to have a chance to see an older version of Joanie (Anna Paquin) put on her Sherlock Holmes cap. She’s going to do her best in order to figure out what truly happened to Allison. It seems like Ben killed her, but with the somewhat-ambiguous nature of Wilson’s final episode, we don’t trust anything that we saw 1000%.
