Claws season 3 episode 2 preview: Enter the casino life
To think, Claws kicked off as a story about a nail salon and now, we’re seeing it push its way towards high rollers, controversial dealers, and people who are desperate to hold onto their money. A nail salon is a place of comfort; meanwhile, a casino is a place of highs and lows. There’s a chance for more victory celebrations that Desna and her colleagues have ever had before (take a look at the sequence at the end of tonight for evidence). As for the downside … well, just remember how many casino closings there are out there.

Desna (Niecy Nash) and her crew start working at the casino and discover the Lovestones are involved in some illegal business with a very important person.
While the premiere offered you a chance to experience some of Desna’s new-found life, it was more of a generous introduction than the full picture. She still technically doesn’t have all of the info about Virginia’s shooting, and nor does she understand that there are FAR more threats out there than she’s aware. Also, there are some lurking closer than she thinks, including Toby — the person responsible for firing off that bullet in the first place. What he did does throw a complication into everything, given his ties to Uncle Daddy and whatever relationship Desna was hoping to preserve there. We’re inching closer now to what’s going to be a season full of landmines, trippy dream sequences, and also possibly violence.
We’re rooting for Desna — let’s make that clear. Yet, we’re also aware of how her humanity at this point can turn on a dime. the more power she gets, the more dangerous she becomes, and the more she starts to lose some of her season 1 magic. Remember when Walter White was just a science teacher? At a certain point, we may be wondering when Desna was just a woman who ran a nail salon in Florida with big dreams. It could become a memory and that memory could, soon after that, be dust. Her empire and her ambition could be her undoing more so than Toby, casino operators, or anyone else.
