MacGyver season 4: Levy Tran now officially series regular
According to a new report coming in via Deadline, Tran has been officially promoted after recurring for the final stretch of season 3 as Desiree “Desi” Nguyen, a woman brought in following the departure of Jack Dalton. She has a history with Jack, and takes on more of a role of Mac’s bodyguard. She’s tough, smart, and unflinching in the face of danger. She also has a hard time letting people in emotionally, something that she resisted doing for most of the third season.
So with Desi now a larger part of the team, where does MacGyver go from here? That’s a good question, and we imagine that they could explore giving us a chance to see more of her personal history, or exploring perhaps her relationship with MacGyver or some other team members. We know a little bit more now about who she is and now, we can start to understand further what makes her tick. Bringing in more of the character’s point of view is only going to make the series as a whole stronger.
The hard thing about MacGyver at the moment is having to wait until presumably early next year in order to see the fourth season air. The show is not a part of the CBS fall schedule and while we do expect that there’s going to be a lot of great stuff coming, the network is going to make you wait for it. Filming for season 4 will still begin at the same time a little bit later this summer, so if nothing else, you can rest assured that there will be some more news all about the show coming up. (We’re crossing our fingers that there is a way for the episode order to be extended — that has certainly happened with some other shows in the past!)
If you want to help MacGyver when it comes back on the air…
The best advice that we can give is to be sure to watch the show live! Also, tell your friends/family to do the same. It’s a series that appeals to family, to anyone who loves science and imagination, and of course anyone who loves action mixed with a little bit of comedy. This show delivers in a number of different, exciting ways, and we certainly hope that this continues moving into the future. There’s no reason to think otherwise with some of the people involved, and some of the elements of the show that are still out there for it to explore.
