Hawaii Five-0 alum, The Good Doctor EP Daniel Dae Kim lands new production deal
According to a new report from Deadline, Kim and his production company 3AD have signed a first-look production deal with Amazon. What does this mean? It’s basically going to allow him to develop more projects exclusively for the streaming provider, which basically means more quality programming is potentially going to be coming to 200 countries/territories with Amazon Prime Video.
While you probably know Daniel very well already from his work on Lost and also Hawaii Five-0, we do think that The Good Doctor has established him as a fantastic executive producer of American television. He is the person who was first inspired to bring The Good Doctor to America after seeing the Korean version of the show (find out more about that over here), and we feel like one of his real talents is finding and identifying stories that are about humanity and the many different layers that exist within a single person.
The Good Doctor, which is run by House alum David Shore, serves as a great template for what some future Daniel Dae Kim productions could look like. It’s a series full of a lot of heart, and one that features a fantastically diverse cast and a lot of different perspectives and viewpoints. (This Amazon deal for Daniel will have no impact on the future of The Good Doctor at ABC, so don’t worry about that.) What this really represents is just an added opportunity to get some more programming out there for people to enjoy, especially on a streaming platform that is looking for some more mainstream hits.

Here is also some of what Kim added in a statement of his own:
