The Amazing Race season 31 episode 9 preview: Return of airport drama!

Moving into The Amazing Race season 31 episode 9, one thing that is immediately exciting is knowing that there aren’t any more double eliminations. Because of that, there’s nothing really that can save the teams moving forward … other than maybe a to be continued leg? Phil didn’t say anything about that.

Anyhow, we are moving into a new Amazing Race paradigm next week, one that does not involve Rachel & Brendon still being in the game. Victor & Nicole are now the only Big Brother team left, and it’s pretty clear from this experiment that you’re better off being Amazing Race alum than you are being from some other show. the proof seems to be in the pudding here that having that experience on the show to a certain extent does help you.

So where are the remaining teams going from here? Think in terms of Split, Croatia, which is a place where Game of Thrones was filmed at one point. There’s also going to be a little bit of airport drama getting there, as apparently Nicole & Victor are going to be no so thrilled with the Team Fun strategy of cutting in the airport in order to get a leg up on arrival. This is a really old-school thing with The Amazing Race and it’s rather nice to see it return. It’s a part of the fabric of this show!

Meanwhile, while in Croatia it seems like there’s going to be some fun tasks, including some sort of rafting task where Colin & Christie are going to almost jettison themselves into the air! While these two aren’t necessarily the favorites to win at this point (remember here that Tyler & Korey have won three straight legs), they’ve done a good job and done it consistently enough that they’ve shown that they are a serious Amazing Race force to be reckoned with. We’re definitely curious to see what happens in Croatia, but also who can emerge from there and what the finale can ultimately look like.

Oh, and one more thing — Afghanimals really gotta step up their game! They keep making little mistakes and we’re not anywhere near as confident that they can make it to the end like we once were.
