Quick Hits: The Good Place, The Handmaid’s Tale news; Alec Baldwin roast
According to a new report coming in right now via TVLine, Bell is going to make her directorial debut on an upcoming episode of the NBC sitcom. That is exciting news, especially since this show is such a fun, creative environment. It feels like this is the sort of place where she can feed off of some of the energy of everyone — and it’s also one of the best shows out there.
Bell’s directorial gig marks the first time that we’re going to see a Good Place cast member step behind the camera for some sort of added gig. (If you missed it, be sure to visit the link here, since that is where you can get some more news all about the show as an Emmy contender this year.)
As for some other news on the day…
More news on The Handmaid’s Tale – Today marks the premiere! Isn’t that exciting? Well, the one thing that may make it even more exciting is that you’re getting to see more than just one single episode today. As a matter of fact, you’re going to have a chance to check out three! That’s a great way to dive right back into this world, and we think that this represents effectively Hulu giving its subscribers the best of both worlds. You’ve got some of the binge-watching model here, though the show is also still giving you the once-weekly format that we personally enjoy more. We like actually having our TV in moderation — it gives us a little bit more to discuss!
The Roast of Alec Baldwin is coming – The frequent Saturday Night Live presence and 30 Rock alum is going to be the star of an upcoming Comedy Central Roast a little bit later this summer. Given Alec’s career — and history of getting himself in the headlines — this is probably going to make for a fun, crazy evening. We’re projecting it being somewhat similar to the Rob Lowe roast in terms of a famous actor having his career relentlessly mocked. (Ironically, Comedy Central years ago roasted Donald Trump, the one person Alec is best known for impersonating.)
In a statement, here is some of what Baldwin had to say about getting the “honors” for this particular event:
“Getting roasted will be the greatest honor of my lifetime besides being a father, a husband, hosting SNL 17 times, receiving Golden Globes, Emmys, and working with Martin Scorsese.”
Technically, getting roasted is an honor — just a crazy one that will offer up some laughs, and probably toughen up your skin to a certain degree.
