Outlander notes: More Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan fun following panel

As many of you out there almost certainly know at this point, the past 48 hours have been incredibly busy for the Outlander cast. Just yesterday, some of the actors, including Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, were in Los Angeles in order to promote the series in front of Emmy voters. Now, they are on their way back to work presumably on the show.

First, though, why not share some fun new social-media moments from the adventure? In a post on Instagram, you can see a rare crossover between Outlander and Starz’s other enormous smash hit in Power — it’s not often that you get Sam, Caitriona, and 50 Cent in the same place. (Power spoiler alert!) Given that 50’s character of Kanan died on the show last year, his presence there may have been as an executive producer just as much as an actor … though he did also have a role to play this past season, which was likely a big-time subject of conversation.

We love Power, even though it and Outlander are probably about as different as different can be.

Meanwhile, our second tease to share comes courtesy of Balfe, who posted a rather-amusing glimpse of Sam Heughan at what appears to be an airport — more than likely, they’re heading back to Scotland to prepare for more work on the show. (That alarm-like noise in the background makes the whole scene feel like some sort of chaos near the end of a Doctor Who episode.) We gotta imagine that by the team the group was back in Scotland, they had to feel all sorts of weird and jet-lagged. The time in which they did the panel in California was basically the middle of the night in the UK!

Finally, have you seen the Ford v. Ferrari trailer?

As we’ve written about as of late, Balfe filmed her part in this movie this past year during the Outlander filming hiatus. (Sam also did some movies, and we’ll have more news on those in due time.) This film is going to teach you quite a bit about racing, which to us is mostly notable since we know very little on the subject otherwise.
