grown-ish season 2 episode 12 spoilers: Where Zoey goes from here

As we inch closer to grown-ish season 2 episode 12 airing on Freeform June 5, it’s clear that Zoey is in a tough spot. Her relationship with her family (of course, of black-ish fame) isn’t in a great place, especially after what happened with the exam. Meanwhile, her relationship with Luca is going to be in a little bit of trouble.

So why is that? Well, think along the lines of some big news when it comes to Aaron and Ana. How is she going to react to the news of the two of them hooking up? Well, she’s not going to handle it altogether well, and as the snake peek below reveals, Luca is going to get especially upset when he hears Zoey refer to Aaron as an ex. Sometimes, just hearing one simple word can be enough to send someone into an emotional tailspin. This episode is going to be all about some of how Zoey deals with all of this and gets her life back on track.

Remember: There’s a reason why this show is entitled grown-ish. It’s a reference to the fact that Zoey isn’t quite an adult just yet. She’s making mistakes and doing some things that hurt other people. Yet, that doesn’t make her unlikable or a terrible person. It only makes her a little bit more human.

Zoey is left to deal with the aftermath of getting caught cheating on her exam, including getting cut off financially by her parents. She takes another devastating hit when Aaron accidentally reveals that he and Ana have been hooking up, causing a snowball of feelings, fracturing her friendships with everyone around her.

So where do we think this story is going to go? Well, perhaps more than anything we’re confident that there is going to be a way for Zoey to make some amends and try to find a way to actually move forward. We don’t think that the entirety of season 2B is going to feature the character in some sort of consistent tailspin with the entire world around her crumbling. The show is best when you get a mixture of the funny moments, the relatable ones, and also the ones that leave you telling at the TV because you know that Zoey is more than some of what you’re seeing.
