When does Chicago Fire season 8 start filming? The timeline ahead
With that being said, at least in this article, we can tell you an approximation for when season 8 production will be underway. In a new post on Twitter, show executive producer (and frequent social-media master of trolling) Derek Haas confirmed that filming is going to be underway for season 8 around the middle of July, which is roughly when every season of the show starts up in the Windy City.

Why doesn’t production shake things up a little bit and start either a little bit earlier or later? While creatively you do want to make things as unpredictable as possible, TV production itself is very much a business about predictability. You have a limited amount of time to get things done, and you want to take advantage of the resources and the routine you have already set in place. It makes things easier and it certainly saves money. For a show like Chicago Fire, that includes starting around the middle of the summer and continuing on with production until the spring. We do often wonder if the filming crew is going to find a way out of filming in the winter, but with Chicago Fire it’s kind of impossible. As miserable as some of those conditions probably are during January and February, they do make up a necessary part of the fabric of this show. These characters are living in Chicago through all of the various times of the year, both good and bad. You can’t just pretend that they don’t have to work in sub-zero temperatures.
Ask for what we’re probably going to see on Chicago Fire season 8, the first order of business is obviously resolving who died in the mattress fire (if anyone did). Fingers crossed that we get a little bit lucky here! Beyond that, we’ll hopefully get to see more of Stella and Severide’s relationship, and then also explore where things are at the moment for Brett following her apparent engagement. Meanwhile, there’s also the question of if we have some new arrivals to the Firehouse. While Firehouse 51 is very much of a tight-knit community, there is always a certain degree of flex in that people come and go. It’s just a part of what happens with life! If there are some changes, we just hope that the overall vibe remains roughly the same.
