Instinct season 2 premiere date shifts; CBS to air The Good Fight season 1
Let’s start by getting the good news out there for those of you who like The Good Fight and want to see it get a bigger audience over on CBS All Access. Today, it was announced that the network is planning to run the entire first season of the Christine Baranski drama this summer, starting with the first two episodes on Sunday, June 16 at 9 p.m. eastern time. Meanwhile, the second two episodes will air on June 23 and starting on June 30, you’re going to have a chance to see new episodes are once-weekly at 10 p.m. eastern time.
While it is true that a number of these episodes have been available on CBS All Access for a really long time now, the majority of CBS viewers don’t necessarily have the streaming service and may not even be aware that The Good Wife has a spin-off at all. This is mostly an opportunity for The Good Fight to find a much larger platform for itself and potentially boost viewership for upcoming episodes. Beyond all of that, this move also represents CBS doing some shrewd gamesmanship in putting The Good Fight on the air right before Emmy nominations are announced. While we think that the show is a long shot to get a nod, you never know when things like this could help it get over the hump.
Now, let’s get to the bad news. Instinct season 2, which had been slated previously for a premiere on Sunday, June 16, has now been officially pushed back to Sunday, June 30 at 9 p.m. Eastern time. We obviously would have liked to see the show on the air sooner rather than later, mostly because it is one of the best mystery shows of its kind. Both it and another CBS series in Elementary excel at presenting cases that are really about questions and problem-solving, and you get a chance throughout each episode to try to piece together what really went on to lead to the crime being committed. There really aren’t enough other shows out there in this vein these days (even when it comes to police drama), and we love to see them around whenever possible. Hopefully, the move of Instinct doesn’t have any big impact on its ratings. It is at least going to have a good lead-in courtesy of Big Brother for at least a good chunk of the summer.
