Poll: Did NCIS: Los Angeles, Shadowhunters, Blue Bloods feature most memorable TV wedding?
As CarterMatt continues its finale poll series for the 2018-19 season, I wanted to put the spotlight for this piece specifically around some of the weddings that stood out. Some were romantic, some turned out to be deadly, and others didn’t necessarily pop as they should. No matter, these weddings are the ones that are really going to define the past year in TV, and they almost certainly will generate a great deal of discussion!
Below, you can see five different weddings from the past several months, alongside why they stand out. Have a favorite? Then be sure to vote in the poll at the bottom of this article! Voting will remain open until Saturday, June 1 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. (For more technical information on how to vote, check out the end of this article.)
Alex and Derek, STAR – Notice that we’re talking about the most memorable wedding, not exactly the happiest. It’s hard to say that anything that happened within this wedding is happy given that, ultimately, we saw here one of the craziest sequences you could ever imagine. This was bonkers, deadly, and also upsetting because there’s no season 4 renewal at present. Nonetheless, this would’ve been a great season finale … just not a series finale.
Athena and Bobby, 9-1-1 – What made this wedding so great was almost that it wasn’t about any sort of pomp or extravagance at all. Instead, this was just a case of two people who love each other and wanted to do whatever they could in order to celebrate that love and tie the knot. It was a short moment at the end of the season 2 finale, but certainly a sweet one.
Jamie and Eddie, Blue Bloods – We don’t think that CBS is winning any points with the fans for their presentation of the wedding — despite having so much hype behind the ceremony, the show never actually gave us the vows! For now, I’m doing the best I can to celebrate a lot of the moments leading up to the actual affair. Maybe the writers will reverse course and give us some more of the wedding next season, but I don’t want to bank on it.
Kensi and Deeks, NCIS: Los Angeles – While this was a little bit earlier on in the season, it doesn’t take away from just how fantastic this was to watch. This was actually the rare TV wedding that felt pretty perfect in retrospect, whether you are talking about Hetty returning for it, the vows, and of course the action and vintage NCIS: LA vibe throughout.
Magnus and Alec, Shadowhunters – While there are a couple of weddings that either had a tragic outcome or didn’t turn out as planned, this one lived up to a lot of the hype — it was beautiful, heartfelt, and while it would be fantastic if there were some more episodes, there’s almost no better way to end a series than with a celebration of these two characters and what they mean to each other.
