Whiskey Cavalier officially canceled (again) at ABC; network passes again
In a series of posts on Twitter this afternoon, the show’s creator David Hemingson confirmed the sad news with the following message:
Friends: I just got the sad news that [ABC] has passed. #WhiskeyCavalier has been fully and finally cancelled. Thank you all so, so much for your efforts on our behalf. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the outpouring of support. It’s incredibly painful to say goodbye to this show and our extraordinary cast, but knowing that we made something you enjoyed – and that I believe will stand the test of time – makes it all worthwhile.

Is there still hope of a revival elsewhere?
In theory, sure, mostly because if a streaming service/another network came calling, we’re almost sure Warner Bros. TV (the studio behind Whiskey Cavalier) would be willing to pick up the phone. Yet, from the tone of Hemingson’s tweet, it doesn’t sound like anything is close to imminent elsewhere. It’s a shame, given that what was present here was one of the most entertaining shows of its kind — one that combined unique characters with action, comedy, and emotional moments. It actually had potential to become even more than what it was this time around, but it just fell victim to being yet another midseason series that couldn’t find much of a platform. We think that one of its biggest casualties may have just been airing late at night, since tonally, Whiskey would have worked a little bit better, potentially, a little bit earlier on in the evening.
For now, we have to anticipate the worst moving forward, but of course there’s nothing wrong with holding out hope that somehow, another contender for the future of Whiskey Cavalier will rise from the ashes and deliver some good news. Keep channeling your passion into the show’s present and future — even if it’s not picked up elsewhere, you at least know that you were a part of a fantastic movement to bring one of the most underrated shows of the season back from dead.
One more thing that you can do at the moment to show support is vote for Whiskey in the finals of our Bring It Back tournament! You can read more about it over at the link here — for now, the series is up against such other contenders as Santa Clarita Diet, Shadowhunters, and Timeless, who have all aired their final episode over the past year and have fans who are still hoping to see another opportunity for them to shine.
