Power season 6 spoilers: The future of Ghost, Tommy’s relationship

Power season 4 episode 10

There are many relationships that are fundamental to Powerbut few focus as much on brotherhood or history as Ghost and Tommy. These are two men who have known each other for the better part of their lives, and they’ve been by each other through thick and thin.

Moving into season 6, though, things may finally be different. Just when you think that these two are past the point of no return, they find a way to bounce back and still be in each other’s orbit. That may not happen in the wake of what happened to Angela. The character being shot by Tommy at the end of the season 5 finale is going to obviously be the sort of thing that will have big reverberations … but they may not make themselves clear all at one time. In a lot of ways, he and Ghost are addicted to being around each other. They’ve got a pattern, and even after something terrible, they could still be drawn to each other.

For a little bit more in the way of discussion on that subject, just take a look at what Joseph Sikora had to say in a new piece over at TVLine:

I think that [the result of the shooting is] a culmination of things. Rather than these negative things being the thing that changes the relationship between Tommy and Ghost, it’s [an] awareness… that Tommy can do this life by himself … In very strong ways, his life is better without Ghost, so Tommy is actually trying to balance life without Ghost rather than the revenge. Even from Episode 1 [of Season 6], we’re going to see huge turns of both of these characters and enlightenment opportunities for both of them, which will kind of be Easter eggs for the rest of the season for these two guys.

Basically, the end result of this shooting is going to be these two men analyzing where they are now and some of what matters to them — the lives that they have, and if it is possible to then maintain these lives. Tommy may think that he can be happier with Ghost, but at the same time him trying to escape Ghost is going to be easier said than done. There’s also another simple issue here in whether or not Ghost will even let Tommy escape after something like this. Isn’t this the sort of issue that is going to linger? really does feel that way.
