Is New Amsterdam new tonight on NBC? Season 2 questions

Is New Amsterdam new tonight on NBC? Given the way that last week’s episode ended, it’s fair to prescribe more new episodes and stat — we gotta know if everyone is okay!

Well … here’s the bad news. This ending was designed intentionally to freak us out for the better part of the summer. While doing a huge, crazy cliffhanger isn’t often the best thing for many shows to do, it’s paying off in spades for the Ryan Eggold-led medical drama. Let’s put it this way — because of the finale’s various cliffhangers, there are more people talking about New Amsterdam now than for most of the season. That’s a good thing for a show that did drop off in the ratings a little bit as we got closer and closer to the end of the season. (It did improve in the numbers slightly after The Voice was moved to a later timeslot.)

So while you wait for new episodes to arrive, more than likely a little bit later this summer, why not go ahead and ask some burning questions? Why not dive into a few different subjects. Here are some of the things that we assume most people are currently pondering over…

Remember that if you want some other discussion all about the New Amsterdam finale and some of what could be coming next, check out the video at the bottom of this article! After you do so, be sure to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube so you don’t miss any other news.

1. Who’s alive? – This is obviously one of the big ones. Dr. Bloom is unconscious, Georgia is in danger, and nobody really has any idea where Dr. Sharpe is located. We’ve already predicted in our aforementioned video that Georgia is the most-likely one to die because the character isn’t a consistent part of the story at the hospital — and it feels almost cruel to say that because it means that Max will suddenly become a single father almost out of nowhere.

2. Will Dr. Bloom return to the hospital? – Provided that she survives the cliffhanger, what’s going to come next for her? She’s obviously been through the ringer as of late and moving into the new season, we are entering a time that feels like a little bit of a reset for her. It’s a chance for her to pick up some of the pieces and have herself back doing what she was once great at. We hope she’ll be back…

3. Will Max’s cancer be conquered? – It’s crazy that, in the midst of all of the other stuff including Luna’s birth and the huge cliffhanger, Max’s recovery wasn’t really a focus — and that is with us knowing full well that the man is dying of cancer. As someone who does want to see the narrative constantly shifted on this show, here’s to hoping for some good news in the early going.

4. What hospital drama will be the focus moving forward? – So much of season 1 was about Max battling the system; with that, we wouldn’t be shocked if season 2 was the system fighting back. Inevitably, there’s going to be a resistance to some of his ideas and we’re hoping to see what that looks like … or even what happens if some people try to take advantage of Max’s “how can I help?” philosophy.
