As we move closer to NCIS: Los Angeles season 11, there are many questions worth wondering — after all, we got a cliffhanger! Is the team going to be able to stop chaos throughout the entire world?
Of course, and while we understand that these questions are important, we can’t help but wonder another one at present — will David James Elliott and Catherine Bell return as Harm and Mac for at least the season 11 premiere?
Based on what we saw tonight, one thing feels guaranteed — there’s a lot more story left to tell here. The crew of the USS Allegiance are still involved in the story at the moment, and that means that Harm has to still stick around pending some sort of crazy time jump. Meanwhile, we also still know that Mac is back with the NCIS: Los Angeles team working on the case — that means that there could be a great use for her, as well.
Ultimately, we think that you have to keep Harm and Mac around for at least one more episode, if for no other reason than to wrap up this story and give us more of a feeling as to where their relationship could go. Sure, you could set the stage for a potential JAG revival if you want here, but the most important thing is that you have to find a way in order to properly finish what you started.
We do know that NCIS: Los Angeles filmed some additional material following the season 10 finale for the future, but it’s not entirely clear if any of that material actually featured either Harm or Mac. It would have made more sense to shoot more now than ask them back later, largely because of the fact that the two of them are still around. Elliott and Bell are in-demand actors and we imagine that, down the road, they’re going to be quite busy. Isn’t it best to use the two of them when the opportunity is there?
Of course, we would love to see them in more beyond just the season 11 premiere — if the situation calls for it, it does feel like the two of them could recur and be an important cog in a number of different episodes coming up. It’s going to be up to the producers first, the actors second … and then, of course, the network if they do decide to do something more with the JAG property moving forward.
