When will Call the Midwife season 9 premiere on PBS? Early speculation

Call the Midwife season 8

Call the Midwife season 9 may already be official, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the premiere date is! There is so much more to hope for in regards to the Helen George series and within this article, we’re going to come bearing all of the info we know … and also some of what we’re hoping to find out.

In case you didn’t know already, let’s kick things off here with a reminder that a Call the Midwife season 9 is already official! This good news was first confirmed years ago, though there was also more announced a little bit earlier this year that you will see both a season 10 and 11 following it up! There is something about this show that just puts a smile on viewers’ faces, even if sometimes the stories are a little bit sad. If we had to surmise a theory for it, much of it would be tied to the idea that even when things are mad, the nurses and midwives at Nonnatus House continue to care for one another. It’s also a show that feels real, and there’s a comfort in seeing these women do everything that they can in order to help others. There’s a hope that goes along with it that there are similar heroes in real life.

Season 9 is currently in production within the UK, and the plan at present seems to be to launch the show much in the same way that it’s always been — there will be a Christmas Special in December and then, following that, more new episodes coming in the new year. Most of these episodes are going to air in the winter in the UK and then the spring in the US. If you find yourself complaining about this as an American viewer, remember this — British viewers have to wait all the time almost constantly for some of our shows. You can’t be somewhat surprised that the favor would be returned at some point.

Through season 9, continue to see relationships evolve for the midwives as Poplar continues to undergo small currents of challenge — technology is getting more and more accessible as women understand increasingly that there are more options for them both prior to conception and also upon delivery day. Some of these advances are not universally accepted or praised, but we will continue to see Trixie and many other familiar faces do what they can to help people who need them the most.

Call the Midwife is a warm bowl of soup, a nice blanket, and a really comfy sofa. It’s the show to watch at the end of a long day when you want to fell all of the feelings and escape the rest of the world. No matter what happens in season 9, we hope that feeling is still there — and that the soup is still warm.
