The Blacklist season 7 premiere date hopes for James Spader, cast

Following tonight’s season 6 finale, we firmly imagine that there’s going to be one question on the tip of your tongue: When is The Blacklist season 7 going to premiere?

Here’s the awesome news: You’re not going to be forced to wait until the new year to see it! After NBC decided to put the James Spader-led series on the shelf for the first half of the 2018-19 season, clearly they’ve come to their sense here and seen the light — The Blacklist is better when you get a little of it throughout the season. Sure, we did appreciate getting so much of the show within a short window of time, but we don’t necessarily need a lot of two-hour blocks during the season. that means less time to dissect certain aspects of the show, which we very much know that we like to do.

Speaking of dissections, check out one of our most-recent The Blacklist videos at the bottom of this article! After you check that out, remember to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for more.

Earlier this week, the network first confirmed that you will, in fact, see the seventh season back on Fridays, but an hour earlier than usual at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Sure, that’s where it’s been for the past couple of weeks, but that hasn’t exactly been its typical slot for most of season 6. Interestingly, it’s not being paired with another show and the network is just fine to ride out The Blacklist alongside Dateline for at least most of the fall. There is no specific premiere date just yet, but think in terms of either late September/October. Sometimes, NBC opts to start their Friday series a little bit later than their competitors (think mid to late October) so that they can use the first few weeks to promote other properties. That could happen again.

Could season 7 be the final one?

We know that there are rumors aplenty out there, mostly because that’s when Spader’s contract currently is set to expire … and we also do think that we’re much closer to the end of this story right now than we are the beginning. Personally, we do think that there’s probably enough room for TWO more seasons, especially when you think about how many people there are precisely left on The Blacklist at the moment. It’s all really going to come down to the desire of the producers, the interest in the cast in continuing, and whether or not NBC is still interested in having the show on the air. These are questions that we should get some answers on this summer — we’d rather know if it’s the final season now than later, since we want ample time to prepare!

When do you want The Blacklist season 7 back, and is there any prevailing thing that you’re hoping to see? Be sure to share right now in the comments, and come back soon for even more coverage of the NBC hit. (Photo: NBC.)
