The Voice results: Did #VoiceSave help Rod Stokes, Shawn Sounds, Andrew Sevener?
Before we get to the artists in need of the save, let’s go ahead and get to some of the other results — Maelyn Jarmon, Dexter Roberts, and Gyth Rigdon were all put through by America. None of this should be a shock. Maelyn is the favorite to win at the moment, and beyond her, Dexter and Gyth also have big audiences. From here, things were a little more dicey as Shawn Sounds, Andrew Sevener, and Rod Stokes were all in need of the final #VoiceSave of the season.
For us, this choice was really a no-brainer — it had to be Shawn. He was the best vocalist by far this season and really, he should have been one of the three saved in the first place. The only reason that he wasn’t is because Blake Shelton’s country audience is one of the biggest out there and they are, basically, impossible to slow down. We like Andrew fine, but we didn’t really want him to move on because we didn’t want to see three-quarters of the finale just be country music. This show’s better with variety and the most variety comes with Shawn finding a way to move forward. Then, you’ve got a final four that a lot of people probably would have predicted based on the performances from last night — sure, Rod’s been pretty good all season, but we just don’t think he’s matched Shawn in terms of vocal ability.

Ultimately, though, it looks as though it is Andrew who is moving through to the next round. Seriously? What’s going on here? This was one of the bigger non-shockers of the season, given that we knew it could happen, and yet, here we are.
