NCIS season 16 episode 24 (finale) spoilers: ‘Daughters,’ Fornell, & Gibbs

Want to know what lies ahead on NCIS season 16 episode 24? “Daughters” is the finale episode coming up next week, and it’s a chance to see most of the themes from the past few weeks come to a head. This is where Gibbs is going to have to confront his history with vigilante justice, his team seeing him in a different light, everything that’s happened with his ex-fiance and his rule book starting to go out the window and that’s not even including the fact that he may not yet know about Ziva being alive! This has been an incredibly strong season for Mark Harmon’s Gibbs and once that has shaken this character to his core giving him pause to re-examine what he believes.

Now here we are now entering one of the biggest finales we’ve had for this show in some time. Gibbs has all of this to face, Fornell is coming back in a very difficult situation, and there’s always a chance of a surprise cliffhanger that is thrown in here since we do know that there will be a season 17 in the fall. There are a lot of different possible meanings to the title of this episode, but we think that for now, a superficial one is best. This could just be about Gibbs doing what he can in order to help Fornell, who is dealing with his daughter being in danger; meanwhile, this case could remind him of what he did following the death of his own daughter.

“Daughters” – Former FBI Agent Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano) pleads with Gibbs to do whatever is necessary to take down drug dealers and suppliers in the area after his daughter, Emily Fornell (Juliette Angelo), is hospitalized from an opiate overdose. Gibbs is haunted by the personal aspects of the case and his history with vigilante justice, on the 16^th season finale of NCIS, Tuesday, May 21 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Of course, there are more questions that should be pondered beyond this. For example, will we get any more references to Ziva or that storyline that could carry into next season? Will there be any nuggets for Bishop/Torres ‘shippers, as well as people rooting for Gibbs and Sloane after her reveal that she has feelings for someone? What we are most excited about in this finale is more Gibbs and Fornell screen time and while it may not be under the best circumstances we love seeing these two together whether it be in a more fun way like a cabin trip or where they need to come together to take care of a really serious situation.
