‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: Emilia Clarke lands major offseason role

When “Game of Thrones” is through filming its new season a little later this year, we now know officially where Emilia Clarke will be: preparing for her big debut on Broadway.

In a new statement Wednesday, it was announced that the woman otherwise known for her part as Daenerys Targeryan is going to be cast in the leading role of Holly Golightly in the upcoming revival of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” set to start up performances at Broadway’s Shubert Theater beginning in February 2013. Richard Greenberg is penning the script based on the classic Truman Capote story, while Sean Mathias (“Waiting for Good”) will direct.

Here is what Greenberg had to say about the project in a new statement:

“The goal of this version is to return to the original setting of the novella, which is the New York of the Second World War, as well as to resume its tone — still stylish and romantic, yes, but rougher-edged and more candid than people generally remember … Capote was a great writer and a natural maker of plots and Breakfast at Tiffany’s has a drive that makes it very alluring to dramatize.”

Luckily, there’s no need for “Game of Thrones” fans to be even remotely concerned that this will take Clarke away from her duties either filming or promoting the show. tThe actress is actually spending the next few weeks in Morocco working in her famous blonde wig, and following that she may be done for the season pending reshoots. If a fourth season of the show happens (which seems very likely given the ratings), Clarke will be made available again for work by the time the show starts up production again next summer.

This has clearly been a busy past few months for the actress, as she has taken on this new role while also facing rumors about everything from “50 Shades of Grey” to dating “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane.
