Ink Master season 12 premiere date: Battle of the Sexes theme announced
We have been eagerly awaiting an Ink Master season 12 premiere date for some time and today, we’re happy to finally have news!
Let’s start with the show’s theme: Battle of the Sexes. For the first time, we’re going to see on the upcoming season nine men and nine women competing for the title which we are really excited about since typically it’s mostly men with 3 or 4 women. The contestants will be split up in teams, and they will also have 14 mentors coming in to help them over the course of the entire season. Take, for example, such people as Ryan Ashley Malarkey, Josh Payne, Joey Hamilton, and one of our favorite Ink Master contestants ever in Sarah Miller. They’ll help to guide the contestants along their journey, as they face the judges and fight for the title.
This season (at least based on the first video out there that features the contestants) looks like we are going to have a really interesting crop of men and women with great stories, different levels of experience, and in the case of one of them, a surprisingly good singing voice. They’re ready to bring art to the table, but some of them seem to have better perspectives on the theme than some others. (Our early prediction: A couple of these dudes are going to underestimate the women and find themselves in some pretty big trouble because of it.)
By the end of the season after we have crowned the latest winner we know that there is a season 13 renewal already inked! That news was also confirmed in all of its glory by the fine folks over at the Paramount Network.
Ink Master season 12 is going to premiere on Tuesday, June 11, and in the series’ much-expected timeslot of 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. We will be here with you every step of the way as we have been for all 11 seasons before this one with reviews and previews.
Also, how about another spin-off?
Per a report from Variety, Paramount Network has officially ordered a series entitled Ink Master: Grudge Match, which is going to feature former contestants getting an opportunity to settle a score with some one-time rivals. Some former contestants including Ryan Ashley, DJ Tambe, and Cleen Rock One will be the judges. There are twelve one-hour episodes, and we’re expecting them to premiere at some point a little bit later this fall.
Could this be a good idea? Maybe, but it’s really far too early to know since we don’t quite know the format. We know that Paramount Network has already tried some spin-offs for Ink Master, with Ink Master Angels being the one that is the most notable. This show at least has an opportunity to rely heavily on former talent and known names, and with the series continuing to bring on some new names on their flagship show, there’s a chance to really keep farming talent that they can bring over elsewhere. At the moment, this show is to Paramount Network what Top Chef is to Bravo — a fantastic opportunity for them to keep bringing on new people to spread their brand identity.
