Outlander season 5 filming update: What’s being shot now?

Outlander season 4

It’s been a fairly busy last few days when it comes to Outlander and its cast, but much of it has to do with things that are unrelated to the show itself. Take, for example, Sam Heughan’s epic My Peak Challenge gala and Laura Donnelly making a big splash at the Met Gala.

If you want to read more about all of this, you can do so over at the link here. For the sake of this article, we’re putting a little bit more of an emphasis on the show — and also production, which is currently going strong! We know that the show is either very close to finishing the first episode block or starting up a new one and today, we know that there have been some work done out on location, separate from the show’s Cumbernauld base.

(Warning: There are minor spoilers ahead — nothing that should surprise anyone, but we felt like putting a warning in here nonetheless.)

Today, we’ve heard that the show is filming north of Stirling (which is also north of Cumbernauld), and to go along with it, the Regulators are being featured in some capacity. What this means basically is that you’re not going to just hear about these characters over the course of the next several episodes; you’re also going to have an opportunity to actually see them in the flesh.

Given what happened at the end of season 4, we feel like the Regulators are going to be featured more prominently than ever. They have to be given that much of the season 5 storyline for Jamie is about a chance. It’s about figuring out a way for him to continue to support Murtagh and his legion, while at the same time also avoiding major conflict and warfare from the British Army. We know what Governor Tryon wants him to do in terms of him building a militia, and we imagine that there’s going to at least some pressure applied on the subject — remember here that Tim Downie is going to be returning as the character at some point early on in the season. He’ll probably visit Jamie, or vice-versa, to ensure that his orders are being met.

For Sam Heughan’s character, we feel like the strategy really should be just buying his time — trying to find a way to ensure that he can walk the line without getting his family into trouble. Unfortunately for him, that’s probably only going to work for so long … especially with the American Revolution looming on the horizon.

What do you want to see when it comes to Outlander season 5, or at least the first few episodes of it? Be sure to share right now in the comments.
