‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Who is Belle’s new threat?

Despite having a part to play in the season premiere of “Once Upon a Time” late last month, Emilie de Ravin’s character of Belle was one of the most notable absences from the show’s second installment. So is this something that we should expect to see even more of moving forward on the show? Don’t bet on it.

So what can we expect to officially take place for her next? We know that Belle will have a major role in the upcoming fourth episode of the season entitled “The Crocodile” (which airs a week from Sunday), and the official synopsis courtesy of ABC helps to shed a little bit more light into that very situation for her, which apparently involves dealing with some more problems than just Rumpelstiltskin being his crazy self:

“Belle’s disgust over Mr. Gold’s continuing thirst for power comes to a head, and she threatens to leave him if he can’t change his evil ways; the dwarves pick up their axes and try to find fairy dust in the Storybrooke mine; and a reunion with an old acquaintance could prove to be Belle’s undoing. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale land that was, Rumplestiltskin attempts to save his wife, Milah, from being kidnapped by a band of cutthroat pirates.”

As the second photo here clearly shows, it looks like Belle is in some serious trouble. But from what? If we had to guess, we would say that this man may very well be the show’s version of Snee, the kooky sidekick to one Captain Hook in the world of “Peter Pan.” The whole reason for this episode’s title is that it is meant to focus on the backstory with Colin O’Donoghue’s famed pirate, and by the end of the hour we hope to have a much greater understanding as to who he is … and just who in the town he is already connected to in some shape or form.
