NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 23 preview: Harmon Rabb returns

Harm

Next week on NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 23, be prepared for a return more than a decade in the making.

We know that there’s been enthusiasm all over the world in getting to see David James Elliott back in this world as Harmon “Harm” Rabb Jr., his famed character from JAG for many years. Beyond that, we also know that NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R. Scott Gemmill worked on JAG. The end of this season just so happened to be a perfect case of serendipity — Elliott just so happened to be available at the right time, and we’ve already heard that Catherine Bell will be around for the May 19 finale. This is a lovely NCIS: Los Angeles reunion like no other! There is a lot of fun to be had here, at least if nostalgia is your idea of fun.

(Remember, there are reports that this could be considered a precursor to some sort of JAG revival, or at least that is something that CBS is reportedly testing the waters on. Note that this is not a formal backdoor pilot, so don’t view this as some sure-fire precursor to something more down the line. Don’t expect anything more, but it wouldn’t be a total shock if there is something more that comes from this down the road.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 23 synopsis with some news as to how Elliott’s Harm will be back in the picture.

“The Guardian” – Callen and Sam travel to the USS Allegiance in the Persian Gulf to work with Navy Captain Harmon “Harm” Rabb, Jr. (David James Elliott) when the NCIS team uncovers ISIS sympathizers who are targeting military locations, on NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Sunday, May 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

One of the important things for Gemmill entering this episode is that clearly, he wanted to make sure that there was a massage of time for Harm and he wasn’t just the same guy that he was on JAG for many years. With that, you’re going to see him in a different place and doing different stuff than he was way back when. You’re going to see the same exact thing for Bell’s Mac when you end up seeing her. It’s a natural way to continue the buildup of these stories — and it goes along with what we’ve seen from some other JAG characters we’ve seen across the NCIS-verse. (Isn’t that the best thing to call the extended universe at the moment?) We’ve seen John M. Jackson a number of times on NCIS: Los Angeles as the Chegwidden character. Meanwhile, we’ve also seen Bud Roberts turn up over on NCIS proper.

In the midst of all of the JAG fun, we hope that some big franchise characters get a little bit of love, as well. Don’t lose them in the mix of everything else!
