Wondering where is Dembe on The Blacklist season 6? If you find yourself having this question, think of this article both as an opportunity to catch up … and a chance to explore what is these choppy, rather confusing waters.
At the moment, where’s what we can say for certain: Hisham Tawfiq is not officially gone from The Blacklist overall. There was no official statement from either him or NBC at the time of Dembe’s departure this past week, and now is there verification from any other sources that he is done.
However, Dembe did depart Reddington’s company, and there is a certain degree of consideration that needs to come along with that. In order for his absence to be felt, Dembe needs to be gone. That is why there is no guarantee that we’re going to see him throughout the next few weeks. This could mean that the producers are buying their time before introducing him again … or this could mean that they’re taking more of a wait-and-see approach.
In physical form, Dembe is gone because he feels disconnected from Raymond Reddington — the two once had an incredibly deep bond that was built on their own version of love and trust; however, that bond has since been broken to bits. It wasn’t just one move, but rather a culmination of them over time. The fact that Dembe felt he needed to keep something from Reddington is really all you need to know there. Reddington put him in that position with his murderous ways, and the two have long held differing views on the role of violence and whether or not it is necessary for them to continue to act in such a way.

We like to believe that Dembe is off somewhere meditating and pondering over his future and whatever he wants it to be. He does have family out there, so this could be an opportunity to rediscover them and figure out more of the man he once was. We spoke with Tawfiq before last week’s two-part installment, and we discussed with him all about what he would like to see explored moving forward.
Our current prediction
Dembe’s role in this story is far from over, though it remains uncertain just what it will be on the series coming up. This is a man following his own road now, and unless he comes back to Reddington, the only reason track him down now is so that he can tell someone everything that he knows. Out of everyone still alive (or at least confirmed alive), Dembe has an understanding of where the bodies are buried. Maybe we mean that metaphorically, but it certainly works literally at the same exact time.
