Suits season 9, Pearson spin-off premiere dates official at USA

With the production of Suits season 9 officially underway in Toronto (where we lived for part of our life), we likened to that of that as a Bat-signal (or, at least a suit-signal) that some more news would be coming in regards to a premiere date. Today, that hope has come home to roost. USA has confirmed when the Gabriel Macht – Sarah Rafferty series will be back, and the long-awaited Pearson spin-off to go along with it!

Ready for the dates? Well, drum roll, please … it’s coming your way on Wednesday, July 17 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. Meanwhile, it’s going to be followed by the spin-off show Pearson at 10:00. Pretty good landing spot for Jessica Pearson’s big showcase, right? In giving the series a solid lead-in, USA is at least trying to usher it into good standing for many weeks to come. We’re excited about this show, given that it should take a thought-provoking look at Chicago politics … and all of the complications that go along with it. The funny thing is that when Jessica first left Suits proper, our assumption was that she was going somewhere else to have an easier life. Instead, it feels almost like she is going from the frying pan right into a fire … and it’s a ten-alarm fire given the sort of people she’ll be rubbing elbows with.

As for what’s coming up during Suits season 9 proper, the obvious thing worth noting (commence tears immediately) is that this is the final season of the show. We’ve come a long way during this journey, one where we are left to experience Harvey & Donna as a couple and also apparently now a firm without the excellent Robert Zane. The legal conflicts and the maneuvering will likely remain (would it be Suits without drama at the firm?), and we continue to cross our fingers for Patrick J. Adams to turn up before the end. As for Meghan Markle, at this point, we’re starting to think there’s a better chance Dule Hill will show up as his character from Psych than there is of her coming back to play Rachel. Just be happy if we get a chance to see Mike Ross again.

It’s going to be a fun Suits summer! We’re going to be back for the thick of it here at the site with reviews, previews and YouTube videos, to help take you on a journey through all of the twists and turns and hopefully, a satisfying series finale that brings a smile to our face and causes us to shout “YEAAHHH” in the highest possible decibel.
