‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Daniel Gillies on Elijah, Elena’s change
We’re hoping that Daniel Gillies will have a little bit more of a presence on “The Vampire Diaries” this season, and judging from the fact that Elijah is at least present in some of the early promotional pictures for the show, we are least willing to wager that he is going to be around for at least the early portion of the upcoming episodes.
So why will Elijah be hanging around Mystic Falls for a while longer? Really, the answer is rather simple; in an interview with the Associated Press below, the actor reveals that so long as Klaus is being a menace, he will likely be around to try and help keep the peace. Elijah has not always made the best decisions (keeping Klaus alive at the end of season 2), but he does seem to be the main member of the Original family with an enormous heart. He’s also had some interesting tension with Elena over the years that we would love to see explored.
In speaking of the character, Gillies also admits that he is far from surprised that Elena is now a vampire, especially since it actually happened far earlier in the book series than it has on television. Personally, he is excited about the possibilities that could unfold as a result, especially since Elena is not longer limited by such a degree to the sort of moral code that she was as a human. When you have superhuman characteristics (even if there are still limitations), normal rules often do not apply.
