American Idol spoilers: Alejandro Aranda, Walker Burroughs’ Queen songs

American Idol

Tonight, American Idol is giving you an episode of TV themed all around the songs of Queen, which shouldn’t be a shock. Bohemian Rhapsody recently came out in theaters, and beyond that ABC is airing a special tomorrow night themed all around the music of the legendary rock group.

So, with that in mind, let’s go ahead and share some of the songs! They’ll be mentored by current Queen frontman and former American Idol star Adam Lambert, who basically has a career that any of these singers would love to have. Check out the songs below via Entertainment Weekly, with a little CarterMatt analysis included.

Alejandro Aranda — “Under Pressure” – Love the choice for Alejandro, since he’s going to be able to do some fun, artistic things with it to suit his style. It’s also one of the more recognizable songs that he’s been able to take on for most of the season.

Alyssa Raghu — “Somebody to Love” – It’s a big song that she can nail — also, it’s memorable and that’s going to help her stand out on a night she clearly needs after being in danger.

Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon — “Who Wants to Live Forever” – It’s another huge, emotional ballad for Jeremiah. It’s also possibly the most underrated song from the Queen catalogue and he should make it into something special.

Laci Kaye Booth — “Love of My Life” – Great song, but is it memorable enough? Laci’s got one of the lesser-known songs from the catalogue to take on and this could be a challenge.

Laine Hardy — “Fat Bottomed Girls” – This is a tough song for anyone to do — it can come across as super-corny, and personally, we prefer hearing songs that aren’t solely focusing on a single part of the female anatomy in 2019.

Madison VanDenburg — “The Show Must Go On” – Big song. It’s really all about being able to hit all of the high notes and keeping the intensity at 11. Madison’s enough of a performer to adequately pull this off.

Wade Cota — “We Are the Champions” – Can Wade do this without just doing the most obvious, karaoke arrangement? We’d love that, since we haven’t really seen anyone do that before.

Walker Burroughs — “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” – This is a great concert track, but not really the best American Idol track since it really doesn’t give you many opportunities to do something beyond a straight-up cover. Maybe Walker can surprise us, since he’s more than capable of it.
