Criminal Minds series finale title revealed by Kirsten Vangsness
In a new post on Twitter, series star (and finale co-writer) Kirsten Vangness revealed that “And in the End…” is the name for the final episode of this season. This is a reference to either a quote from Abraham Lincoln (“And in the end it’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years”) or a part of a song lyric from The Beatles. Probably Lincoln, mostly because Criminal Minds does love using famous quotes in a number of their episode titles.

Obviously, this title is meant to paint things as clearly the end; while we’d love to see Criminal Minds continue forever, it is quite nice to get a sense of closure here and to understand that this could be the last chapter of the story. This also allows the team to prepare for this last chapter in the saga appropriate. Some parts of the production process (including tech scouting) are already coming to a close, and over the next several days, we’ll start to see even more goodbyes. This show’s been on the air for a decade and a half and that’s crazy. Most shows in 2019 are lucky to even last five.
As for what this finale could potentially be about, we wouldn’t be shocked if this is a final battle of sorts between the BAU and Everett Lynch, the character poised to be the Big Bad for the final season. This entire final season is meant to be a little bit more serialized than any other we’ve seen as of late. While there probably will be individual stories per episode and some procedural elements (this is still Criminal Minds), it does make a certain degree of sense for the final season to have a little bit of a different feel than just about anything that we’ve had a chance to check out on the show before.
When will season 15 premiere?
Well, here’s the bad news — probably not for many months still. We thought there was a tiny chance CBS could just air it this summer so that they could move on with some other programming this fall, but since it’s not on their schedule as of right now for the final few months, fall seems like the best possibility. Let’s hope they make this a worthy celebration of the show.
