Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 23 preview: Mary McGarrett’s back!

When Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 23 comes your way next week, you are going to have what we think is a golden opportunity. After all, we’re going to have a chance to see Taryn Manning back on the show as Mary McGarrett! It feels like earlier on in the show she was a little bit more of a regular guest star but recently (and understandably so given her gig on Orange is the New Black) it’s a little bit more challenging to have her around.

Luckily, it does seem like Mary’s return is going to lead to an entertaining story, one that offers up a little bit of a different perspective on these characters than we’ve had a chance to see before. Beyond just that, it’s also going to give you a chance to see another murder case (this show pretty much requires that) and then also some possible romance for Junior and Tani — how can you not suspect something there, given that the two parties are heading off to a wedding?

Below, CarterMatt has the official Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 23 synopsis with some other insight when it comes to what lies ahead:

“Ho‘okāhi no lā o ka malihini” – While McGarrett helps his visiting sister, Mary (Taryn Manning), spy on her shady neighbors, Five-0 investigates the murders of a ride-share driver and his passenger. Also, the team teases the youngest members of Five-0 when Junior escorts Tani to a wedding, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, May 3 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Obviously, this episode is going to be jam-packed full of content, but did you expect anything else given that we’re talking about an episode near the end of this season? Judging from what we know about the end of season 9 at the moment, the final two episodes are going to be linked. They’re going to feature an action-packed episode that puts Joey Lawrence at the center of it as Aaron Wright. We certainly have questions aplenty around what the writers are planning to do there, and given what we know about Hawaii Five-0, there is a chance that we could be left with a thrilling, dangerous conclusion.

In the end, though, we gotta take things one step at a time! We’re excited about this upcoming episode mostly due to the fact that it will allow us a chance to tap into a little bit of nostalgia for the earlier seasons, while also giving you something involving the characters in the present … which, in turn, impacts their future. Isn’t it funny how all of these timelines come together?
