If you’re finding yourself eager to get A Million Little Things season 2 on the air, you’re not alone. Unfortunately, you’ve still got a LONG ways to go in order to see it on ABC.
Luckily, we do have a rather fantastic guide who is helping us out every single step of the way — executive producer DJ Nash. He’s done a good job throughout most of this process of keeping us in the loop of various ins and outs when it comes to this show, and that includes what we’ve just heard this week.
In a new post on Twitter, Nash confirmed that on Thursday, he and the rest of the team are pitching the story for season 2 to the network — given that ABC does broadcast the show, they have to be cool with the million little things (pun clearly intended) that they put on the air. There are often some story tweaks that are done after these pitch meetings, but networks are generally pretty supportive — they have a talented group of writers and producers on the show for a reason. They have confidence in what they’re doing.
So what’s next beyond this? Of course, the team will continue to keep ABC in the loop for some time still, but they’re going to press onward and prepare for the start of season 2 filming! Production will kick off when we get around to June and following that, we’ll probably start to hear more in terms of casting news and story teases. The first previews in an official capacity will come in the summer, provided of course that ABC does the right thing and slots season 2 in for the fall.
Overall, we feel like ABC has to be really pleased with the success of A Million Little Things. It fared rather well in its Thursday timeslot after the move and beyond that, it’s found itself a really fantastic DVR audience. We think that this could stretch and expand a little bit further once we see some streaming numbers come into play. This show has tremendous binge-watch potential and because of that, it easily feels like a show that we could see back on the air with bigger numbers when we get around to the fall. Let’s just hope that there’s some tremendous promotion behind it, and that this story finds a way to balance out the big, emotional reveals with also backstory and things that are perfectly relatable to viewers.
Come next month, more information should come out about A Million Little Things season 2 — think in terms of the annual ABC upfront presentation. They’ll give out the schedule then, and then probably an official premiere date at some point over the summer. Keep your eyes peeled for a little bit more.
