American Idol results: Was Uche or Dimitrius Graham eliminated?

American Idol

Following tonight’s special Disney-themed performances, we knew that American Idol 17 was going to have some sort of results component. Maybe there would be an elimination, or maybe the judges were going to use the save. It was a hard thing to predict in advance since so much of it is dependent on who the actual person is.

As for who we thought was going to be in the most danger, probably Uche just because of the results last week, coupled with the fact that he was at the start of the show. If you’ve seen a lot of singing shows over the years, then you know already that this is largely a kiss of death for some of them.

Let’s go ahead and go through some of the names officially in the top 8 — Laine Hardy, Madison VanDenburg, Alejandro Aranda, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Walker Burroughs, Laci Kaye Booth, Wade Cota, and then finally Alyssa Raghu. This meant that Uche and Dimitrius Graham were eliminated, as we saw the two judges opt to not use their save at the very end of the episode. They’re going to hold onto it for the time being.

What do we think about these results? – It’s always hard for America to get things 100% right since the show’s viewership is not an accurate measurement of all of America.

Let’s make this clear, though — we don’t think that Uche should’ve gone home when it comes to his status as an entertainer. We don’t fully get the Wade Cota experiment over him, and we’d say that both Uche and Dimitrius were better today than Laine — at least in terms of originality.

Unfortunately, sometimes we’ve come to see American Idol become a tad predictable when it comes to results. We have a tendency to see sometimes wild-card acts go home right away and this is precisely the case here. We’re going to miss these guys mostly because of their energy. They seemed to be incredibly popular to a lot of the other contestants, and that’s something that is going to make us miss both of them on the show moving forward. We like camaraderie, and we’re certainly getting a great chance to see a lot of it on this show this season.
