Better Call Saul season 5 filming: Who’s back on set?
In a post on Twitter late this past week, Giancarlo Esposito himself confirmed that he is back in Albuquerque, the perfect place to bring Gus Fring back to the forefront. While Gus was not originally a part of Better Call Saul, he originally signed on as a series regular, a means in which to bring back his character into a timeline fully established in Breaking Bad. We know of the relationship between Gus and Mike Ehrmantraut and one of the main focuses of this show is to better establish that and try to push the narrative forward in some exciting ways.
As this particular season moves forward, we’re excited to learn a little more about how Gus continues to expand his empire, and beyond that, the relationships that he builds. We admit that there is a part of us that wants to see a little bit more of his backstory and understand how he ended up in this position, but we recognize at this point that this is probably not going to happen. (Instead, can we have a different series all about that — Greet Gus?)
We know that getting Esposito back in the first place this season is a little bit of a feat, given that the actor is doing a good bit of series work elsewhere. Yet, the thing about doing Better Call Saul that makes it so great is that almost everyone will want to continue to be a part of it, mostly because they understand the craft and the amount of effort and dedication that goes into it. For Gus, we’ll take note of just about every scene in which he appears.
Unfortunately, you’re going to be waiting a really long time in order to see all of these upcoming episodes happen. More than likely, Better Call Saul season 5 will be premiering on AMC when we get around to the first few months of the year. It’s a long stretch of time to wait, but it should prove itself to be very much worthwhile.
