Poldark season 5 progress report, premiere-date wait

What’s going on in regards to Poldark season 5? It’s a reasonable question, and it does also admittedly feel like forever since we last had an opportunity to discuss the show here on the site.

Ultimately, there is a major reason for this — there hasn’t been a whole lot to share. The Aidan Turner series wrapped filming several weeks ago, and beyond just that, there is no news on a premiere date or a trailer just yet. There is a reason for that, though, as there is still a good bit of meticulous work being done behind the scenes in order to create one of the strongest iterations of the show we’ve had a chance to see yet.

In a new post on Twitter (see below), the series’ own production company in Mammoth Screen noted that the production team is still in the process of editing the series — that makes sense, given that this is a process that takes many weeks and a lot of tireless work. It’s one of the hardest jobs there is within the television industry, since these are the people who don’t really get a lot of credit for their work even though they are pretty darn sensational at what it is that they do. They make this show the fantastic spectacle that it is!

For now, our expectations for Poldark season 5 are the same as they’ve ever been — a premiere date in either the late spring/early summer on BBC One and then one coming up this fall on PBS. We don’t anticipate the series rushing things along before that, given that this is the final season and it deserves a lot of time in order to properly perfect it. Not only that, but it deserves some proper celebrations and events recognizing its greatness. It’s one of the best adaptations/reboots of the past several years, and it’s certainly made stars out of some of its core cast members in Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson. It’s breathtaking visually and includes phenomenal drama and nuanced performances … but we probably don’t have to tell you a lot of this if you are already a regular Poldark viewer.

Let’s just hope now that Poldark season 5 lives up to some of the expectations that we’ve got for it as a piece of dramatic television, one that combines romance, drama, and a number of other elements in a fascinating, compelling manner.
