NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 23: How finale begins

NCIS: New Orleans season 4 premiere

NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 23 is going to be airing come Tuesday, May 7 and based on most of the information we’ve got now, it’s going to be a heck of an event! Basically, this is a chance to really dive into the story of “The River Styx,” one that is going to bring Pride a little bit closer to some of the answers he’s long been seeking.

To be specific, think about this one: Is there any way for him to stop Apollyon? This is the mysterious organization at the heart of this season, and one that Pride is going to be intent on shutting down given what he’s already gone through when it comes to Cassius’ death. This finale is going to take him to the other side of the world in order to try and stop them, and it does seem like he’ll at least have a little bit of help with Lasalle at his side. For those of you who’ve felt like we haven’t had enough of Lasalle this season, maybe this episode will help to turn that around!

Below, CarterMatt has the official NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 23 synopsis for some additional insight on what lies ahead:

“The River Styx, Part 1” – Pride and Lasalle travel to war-torn South Ossetia in Russia to locate FBI Special Agent Raymond Isler (Derek Webster), who was kidnapped during a failed mission to apprehend the leader of Apollyon, the underground spy network responsible for murdering Pride’s father, on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, Tuesday, May 7 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Given that this is listed as “Part 1,” take that as another assurance that there’s going to be so much more on the other side! As a matter of fact, we already know that there’s going to be more in the form of a dramatic finale that will feature Pride’s mother. You can read a little bit more news on that subject over at the link here.

In the end, we feel like this arc is going to uncover so much more about Pride than he ever probably thought possible, and hopefully also help him to come up with some plans for how he wants to deal with him. While it’d be nice to get some resolution to this storyline in season 5, we wouldn’t be shocked if part 2 sends you in a completely different direction, leading Pride and the rest of his team trying to contend with that in season 6 … provided of course that happens. (We’re as confused as anyone that we haven’t had a chance to see a renewal yet … hopefully, that’s coming up in the new future!)
