‘New Girl’ season 2, episode 4 preview: Schmidt rediscovers his youth

The fourth episode of “New Girl” is coming up on Tuesday night, and it is going to be a rather funny one to watch for a rather specific reason: Schmidt trying to be hip even more so than he usually is.

So what is the context for his adventures this time around? Let’s just put it like this: some new neighbors are going to be arriving to the gang’s famous apartment complex, and they are going to be the sort of young, ridiculous hipsters that people like Schmidt idolize. In some ways, this episode already reminds us of the episode of “Seinfeld” when Jerry and George meet alternate-universe versions of themselves, mostly in how that Schmidt is going to be desperate to be accepted and to identify with these people, even when he really does not have anything in common with them at all.

So how are the rest of the roommates going to react to all of this? Let’s just say that they are probably not going to be so willing to bend over backwards for people that they don’t know and really don’t care about. Instead, they will be too busy trying their best to ensure that Schmidt goes even more insane. Nick is going to pull a series of pranks on the guy to try and make him feel old, which is something that he knows a good bit about already. How so? All you have to do is remember the episode that aired last season where Nick attended a college party and started to hit on people who were right around drinking age.

Do you think that this episode does have some roll-on-the-floor potential? We want to hear some more of your thoughts below!
