NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 23: The Harmon Rabb Jr. reunion

Harm

If you haven’t heard already, here it is — you’re going to be VERY psyched to see NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 23 when it airs. “The Guardian” next week is one of the most important of the season, and not just because it’s the penultimate one of the season. This is a chance for David James Elliott to re-enter the picture as Harmon Rabb Jr. (you can call him Harm), a man you know very much from the days of JAG. It’s been a minute (or, a decade and a half) since he’s really been at the forefront of television, but he’s still out there doing his thing, and doing it as a part of the military.

We’re going to see Elliott and then later Catherine Bell in the upcoming season 10 finale, and it’s been clear from the start that the goal here isn’t just to give you the same JAG that you previously had. Think how much your friends are different from the people they were fifteen or sixteen years ago — they may have different careers, different interests, or different patterns. The same can be said for what you’re getting from some of these characters. The goal is to present different iterations, but also still get you excited. Don’t you need to be that way if you want to see more of these characters down the line? Just remember the whispers that are out there about there being a new revival — nothing is remotely official, but this is an opportunity to re-test these characters. Consider this step 1 of about 100 steps to get the show back.

Let’s focus now, though on NCIS: Los Angeles, given that there is a specific story here that is going to be told throughout this episode. For some more news all about what will be, just take a look at the official synopsis below:

“The Guardian” – Callen and Sam travel to the USS Allegiance in the Persian Gulf to work with Navy Captain Harmon “Harm” Rabb, Jr. (David James Elliott) when the NCIS team uncovers ISIS sympathizers who are targeting military locations, on NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Sunday, May 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

If you haven’t heard about the NEXT new episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, we’ve got a hookup for you in the video below! Consider this your resource for 10×21, the first of TWO episodes featuring the return of Bar Paly as Anna. After you watch that, remember that you can subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for more — there’s also an NCIS: Los Angeles playlist out there that is worth your time.

Story-wise, it seems like to the surprise of no one, Harm is coming back at a time when the fate of the entire country could be in jeopardy. It’s funny seeing some of the sort of stakes of all of the shows within the greater NCIS universe. It seems like more often than not, the NCIS: Los Angeles find themselves having to save the lives of a few hundred million people. While all of these agents have a certain responsibility to be heroes and they act like it, it feels like Sam, Callen, Deeks, and Kensi are asked more often than not to put on the cape and be superheroes. What are their powers? Surviving shootout scenes and delivering corny banter to each other.

Harm’s return in this episode will likely lead to a cliffhanger — since there is another episode coming with the same story, it’s hard to really imagine anything else going down here!
